A surgeon who explains before he operates
Dr. Yogesh Bansod is a consultant surgical oncologist who completed his M.Ch in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, one of India's leading cancer centres. He currently consults at Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Marine Lines and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Navi Mumbai, and now sees patients in Thane.
His clinical interests are minimally invasive surgery for cancers of the digestive tract, women's organs and chest, along with complex abdominal cancer surgery. He believes every patient deserves a treatment plan that addresses the person, not only the scan, and he sets aside time at each visit to answer questions from patients and their families.

How he works
Every new cancer diagnosis is discussed with colleagues in medical and radiation oncology, pathology and radiology, a format known as a tumour board. This is why a visit to Dr. Bansod often ends with a clear step-by-step plan rather than only a date for surgery. When a patient does not need an operation, or needs another treatment first, he says so.
